Case studies

Energy at Home has helped to install energy saving measures in hundreds of homes. We work with a number of schemes and partners to help residents get lower-cost or free energy efficiency measures installed. Please visit our Funding & support page for more details.

We caught up with a number of residents who were happy to share the details of their experiences:

Solar PV, Air Source Heat Pump and Cavity Wall Insulation installed through government grant

Dan used Bright Green Homes funding to install Solar PV, an Air Source Heat Pump, and Cavity Wall Insulation to reduce bills and future-proof his home. The measures have reduced the carbon footprint of the property and the estimated annual fuel saving will be around £2,300 per year. Dan said:

"I was aware that various funds were available to make energy efficiency improvements to homes and once I’d had the EPC done and had the evidence in front of me, I was determined to do something.

The online form to apply for Bright Green Homes funding took five minutes to fill in and thankfully I was able to confirm my eligibility."

After the insulation was installed with the help of Energy at Home, Karen said:

“The house felt like it had a woolly hat on!"

External wall insulation for a 1940s terraced home

When Emma moved into this steel-frame house it needed complete renovation. She had external wall insulation installed through Energy at Home to improve the external appearance and make it warmer. She said:
